Dear Diary,
Last night I couldn’t sleep because I knew I was going for my first gown fitting today. The late-night shows of ‘’ Say Yes to the dress’’ is now my reality! The wedding jitters are so real. There are so many bridal studios to choose from! Which dress should I pick?
Perhaps this is a different kind of shopping experience where I make a lifetime decision of what dress to wear at my wedding. The array of options is not helping, and I’m confused about what type of dresses suit my body type. When we went into the bridal studio, we were greeted with smiles and information overload of what kind of dresses will suit me. I was also informed that we needed to prepare for parents, bridesmaids, and even the groomsmen’s outfits!
Finally, the time to try on the dresses! It's every little girl’s dream to fit into a beautiful dress, walk down the aisle with her father to a man of her dreams…. ‘’ Ah!’’ I yelped a little.. my dress is damn tight! I can’t fit in! Within seconds, the sales lady immediately consoled me that the dress is free size and can be altered while masking her words with loads of encouragement. The disappointment on my face– this is not what I imagined it to be. Soon after, I begin to realize that my body type cannot fit all the dresses in every rack and there is a dress suitable for everyone. As I begin my research on the different types of dresses, I want to share the difference in bridal studios that I have been to. Due to covid restrictions, it's mandatory to book an appointment before going down.
Wedding crafters
Wedding crafters is situated at Oxley Biz hub. 8-10 mins walk from Tai Seng MRT at lobby one. Booking an appointment was a simple and fuss-free process and we were given an instruction guide on how to walk from the MRT to the studio. The dresses were beautiful! I love that the studio allows me to change my choice of dresses from the time I sign up to the day of my wedding. There are quarterly new dresses from their new collections that I can choose from! If you love an ethereal feel, go to wedding crafters! Light, breezy, and very dreamy.
Having the best dress also means having the best shoes. It's always hard to find a shoe that will match the dress, so Wedding Crafters created a new brand called – Oh darling. The shoes perfectly match the outfit. Very comfortable and easy to walk in.
Artisanal Flair
Located at club street, very central and convenient from my workplace. Tilly was patient in explaining to me what kind of gowns will fit me. Her gowns are intricate and a true designer. I realized that Tilly has been a gown designer for more than ten years and her insights into the female anatomy are very detailed. My favorite part of the studio is that Artisanal Flair has got Berta gowns! Berta gowns worn by kylie Jenner and other celebrities, these gowns are very rare and expensive. I was delighted to know that the Berta gown was available on my wedding date! The designs of the veils can be customized and I could even add words. It was a bespoke experience.
Tilly is a bona fide wedding designer!
